Charge Controller Testing | Chad/Chris | Mitchell is working on the analysis. Delayed due to funding furlough, and some debugging. Debugging is fixed, shoot for mid-March completion. Pick up during March meeting, then schedule the ferrite bead test. |
EFOY | Chad | PR approved, waiting for actual PO and procurement. Will put one on Mt. Saint Helens and will use the other for the DAS (below). The EFOY doesn’t power the DAS, it charges the battery bank, then use a DC to AC inverter to power the DAS. Basically are building a UPS because the power output from the inverters are stable. Will also build in an LVD and can have a back-up generator. |
Solar Panels/Mounting (need to collaborate with Infrastructure Group) | Chad | Standard NOTA solar panel (~1800 stations use this) has a custom frame set-up (not COTS), ordered from one vendor (SolarFlexion). This has been discontinued. Need new solution with standard mounts, cable glands, still tamper resistant, etc. Chad has been working with SolarFlexion to find a 100W panel slightly the same size. Need new tamper proof solution (torx bolts are too easy to come by these days, and aluminum is very easy to cut through). Working on solution to retrofit existing stations (so new panels can use existing mounting system and maintain tamper-resistant characteristics). SolarFlexion will send two new 100W panels plus mounting hardware so Chad can mock up the new build. |

Decisions
For now, we are going to hold off on testing the Sunwise charge controllers due to lack of use in E-scope IS field deployments.
