    STATION SERVICE LOG DATE:
    20210530

    STATION/SENSOR DOWN TIME (UTC):

    0010-0020 (20210531)

    SERVICE DESCRIPTION:

    AON upgrades

    UPON ARRIVAL:

Severe vandalism at station. 3 solar panels smashed out, appear to be bullet holes, but no penetration through hut wall. Top = 19V and 1.65A of current, Middle = 13V and 0A, Bottom = 9V and 0A

Aluminum foil tape was peeled off and meticulously reshaped into a foul phrase above the door. Soil probe destroyed.

    ACTIONS TAKEN:

    Baler media swap

    GCC firmware upgraded to 1.20

The soil temperature sensor equipment and data loggers were removed

    Add 2 LFP batteries

    EQUIPMENT REMOVED:

    n/a

    EQUIPMENT INSTALLED:

2 LiFePo batteries added to make the station 1.10.4:

    5821, 5018016

    5858, 5018060

    COMMENTS:

This was the single worst case of human vandalism I have ever witnessed in Alaska.

The wellcap box was undisturbed, which lends to the hypothesis that this occurred during winter when there is easy snow machine access to Noatak and the wellcap would be covered by snow.

Voltages on the batteries were poor, in the 12s. Hopefully the panels can be replaced before it's too late in the season for full charge.

    Door taped prior to departure
