    STATION CODE:
    TA.Q19K

    STATION Locale Description:
AC08 (PBO) Cape Douglas, Alaska, US

    STATION SERVICE LOG DATE:
    20190619

    STATION/SENSOR DOWN TIME (UTC):

    ~2330-0045 (20190620) UTC

    SERVICE DESCRIPTION:

Install standard casing well cap, infrasound diffuser, hut vent, replace hut door hinges and move timing antenna for better sky view.

    UPON ARRIVAL:

The station's improvised wellcap had been dismantled by bear activity.  The sensor cable was intact and the sensor was still running.  The well cap was full of water to the top of casing.  Some additional bite marks and claw marks on other station components.

    ACTIONS TAKEN:
Disconnected the STS5A cable from VIE power and the Q330.  Pulled the cable through the conduit which also had some water.  Removed the water and debris down to the top of the sensor and replaced the well cap with the standard TA wellcap. Installed the diffuser and hose for the infrasound.  Installed a hut vent as their was noticeable corrosion on metal components inside the hut.  Replaced the STS5A cable in the conduit and powered the sensor back up and issued a centering command.

Swapped in a new GPS timing antenna and cable and moved it to the apex of the hut interior.  The amount of bear activity made it imprudent to move the GPS outside and the mountable exterior walls were covered with radome yagis.  Updated the config file for GPS continuous.  Buried the wellcap and conduit under rocks at the site.

    EQUIPMENT REMOVED:

    Baler media

    EQUIPMENT INSTALLED:

    Baler media
    Infrasound diffuser
    Hut vent

    COMMENTS:

Their is noticeable corrosion on battery terminals, all metallic components for both the GPS, radios, and seismic equipment.  This station may need some attention for this in the future.  The Hut door was taped prior to departure.

    VISITOR:

    Jeremy Miner
    Tim Dittman (UNAVCO)
    Evan McArthur (AEC)
    Turner Pahl (Alpine Air)

    ON NEXT VISIT:

The station is a UNAVCO geodetic hut.  The seismic station is transferring over to AEC so there may not be a next visit by IRIS staff.

    CHANGES AFFECT INSTRUMENT RESPONSE:
Diffuser for infrasound and water removed from borehole.
